And therefore, reader, I myself am the subject of my book; it is not reasonable that you should employ your leisure on a topic so frivolous and so vain.

... the torturer has become – like the pirate and slave trader before him – hostis humani generis, an enemy of all mankind.

... that makes me elitist? Good! If "elitist" just means "not the dumbest motherfucker in the room," I'll be an elitist!

“I don’t watch anything except Hannity on Fox”
Wow. Just… wow. Completely irrelevant of which side of the fence you’re on, how are you not ashamed of your only source of news being a single talk show host on a single channel?
Hey anon – that was a ‘sarcastic’ or rather a lib who can’t think any other way commentator, not Palazzo’s statement. But since your source of news is probably MSNBC and tba, guess I should expect you to take a comment like that and believe it. Probably have already quoted it to others by now!
The actual statements are pretty funny without any need to add sarcasm– Palazzo’s amounts to “Now that I saw how bad it is, I’m fully committed to help. Who knew?” and Cantor says Palazzo will be a “natural leader on disaster relief” in this Congress. I suppose the theory is, having stubbed his toe so thoroughly on this particular issue, he’ll be in pain and will be stepping pretty carefully next time he’s around it.
I’ll honest up – the above anon was me, posted in a nearly-asleep state and fighting bronchitis. I missed the Onion-ish nature. Totally my bad for the miss.
To be fair though, as Tom says, it’s a statement that’s far closer to reality than some of the Onion articles that have suckered conservatives over the years.
Yikes, bronchitis sucks (and the meds don’t make anyone more mentally acute, either). No harm, no foul. Hope you’re bouncing back.
Slowly. Honestly, I’m pretty used to it by now. A combination of two smoking parents and a nasty case of it when I was a kid left me with lungs that just love to snap into it whenever I get a head cold or the allergies kick in.
I’m trying to figure out how to extend my body’s recreation of my teenage years to something other than respiratory maladies, but so far no luck.
Thanks for the well wishes :)
